Rosa Hello again. Last time on English at Work, we heard Anna leaving Tom crying(哭) into his(他的) cold pizza. He may(可能) not have had the evening he was expecting(期望), but for Anna it was a huge(巨大的) success. She came up with an idea for a new plastic(塑胶) vegetable and now she needs to pitch(倾斜) it to Paul the boss(老板). So I think I'll go for the blue Marge. It matches my eyes.
Well, almost(几乎). Morning Denise. Oh, hello Anna. Yes, Anna. Bright(明亮的) girl. What she sees in Tom I'll never know.
What? I'm sure you would. Uh, hi Tom. You're in early. Huh? Oh, yeah.
Couldn't sleep after( 在…之后) you'd left. Tom, it was a fantastic night and forgettable in fact. Thanks so much. Did you hear that Marge? She said it was unforgettable(难忘的). Looks like they're getting very serious(认真严肃的).
You're such a gossip(小道传闻), Denise. The only thing Anna's serious about is her new idea. How's it going Anna? I'm really excited about launching(发射) a new product, although(尽管) Tom doesn't seem( 似乎) so keen(锋利的). Don't worry( 担忧) about him. You need to concentrate(集中) on convincing(使确信) Paul that your new idea will bring in the business.
But how? You need to pitch the idea to him, but before that you need to do some research(研究). Yes, of course, research. But how do I do that? Check out the competition(竞争), work out some costs and find out what new product people would really like to see. Why not do a customer survey(调查)?
A customer survey, right. But what should I ask? Say, could I ask for your opinion on a new product we're hoping to develop(发展)? What plastic products do you currently(当前) use? What products would you like us to make in the future? How do you feel about the idea of selling plastic vegetables?
Any particular(特殊的) vegetable you'd like to see?
