Let's take a minute to look at some of the many meanings意义 "while" can have. As a conjunction接合, "while" can mean "at the same time as." "While we were sleeping, it snowed." We can swap交换 the two clauses around在周围, but notice注意 the comma逗号 goes away. "It snowed while we were sleeping." "While" can have the same meaning意义 as "but." "One of the twins is shy羞怯的 while the other is outgoing对人友好的." And "while" or "whilest" in more更 formal正式的 contexts can also be used in the same way as "although."
"While I know that sugar is bad for me, I can never say no to dessert."
